Green Sea Urchin – Psammerchinus miliaris

This has to be one of my favourite wildlife encounters, and led to perhaps my favourite underwater photo I’ve ever taken so far! The green sea urchin is a curious creature, covered in moveable spines to keep itself safe, often picking up pebbles in between the spines to help add a bit exta camoflage and a special mouth – named an aristole lantern – under its body fed and moved  hundreds of tube feet! What a creature – and you can see me wonder at finding it for the first time ever in this video.
